The Bridge Mission
- Seek first the Kingdom of God (By daily aligning our lives to Gods way of doing things)
- Articulate the Kingdom of God (By being a witness of what Jesus has done in our lives to the lost, our community, and families. By teaching the principles and keys of the kingdom. By the proclamation of the gospel of the kingdom.)
- Demonstrate the Kingdom of God (By loving, caring, and sharing with others. By signs and wonders following those that believe. By being kingdom ambassadors wherever we go and letting the light of Christ shine through us whenever we can.)
The Bridge History
Pastor Fred J. Smith was born and raised on the beautiful Island of Nassau, Bahamas, with his siblings and parents, Fred and Alison Smith. After returning to college from a summer break in the Bahamas, he gave his heart to Jesus on the airplane. Pastor Smith stated.
“My mother was the first in our household to get saved and was praying for me.” In his early college years, a friend invited him to attend church. During this time, he also participated in a student-led bible study in his residence hall at Jacksonville State University hosted by another friend. After being invited and attending two sessions, the leader of the bible study class schedule changed, and he could no longer lead the bible study. He asked Pastor Smith if he could continue to lead the group. This is where Pastor Smith began sharing his testimony, the love of Christ, and God’s Word on the campus of Jacksonville State University. Many souls were saved, healed, and filled with the Holy Spirit during the five years of this student-led bible study. It was here that Pastor Smith met his wife, Mrs. Rochelle Smith. He began attending the college ministry and church of Faith Outreach Ministry, where he experienced great fellowship and seasons of growth.
During these college years, Pastor Smith was also instrumental in organizing campus revivals and college outreach services, which included participating colleges from the southeastern regions. As a college student, Pastor Smith spent his summers in his native country, Nassau, Bahamas, where he attended the Kingdom Believers Summits hosted by Dr. Myles Munroe.
During these summers, Pastor Smith experienced significant growth, mentorship, and a deeper understanding of the kingdom of God. Pastor Smith graduated from the Kingdom Training Seminar hosted by Dr. Myles Munroe in 2014. It was the last seminar taught by Dr. Munroe before he transitioned to heaven.
Pastor Smith served at Faith Outreach Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Wallace E. Cooley in various capacities, such as student leader, Sunday school teacher, associate minister, and on the board of directors. Pastor Fred and Rochelle also did the work of evangelists together with Pastor Jesse L. Mincey, who hosted evangelistic meetings on the campus of Jacksonville State University. In 1999, Pastor was licensed into the gospel ministry while serving in his local church. Pastor Smith continued to serve in his local church for 11 years after being certified as an associate minister and on the board of directors.
After serving over fifteen years in his local church and being in ministry for over twelve years, Pastor Smith, his wife, and children were ordained, blessed, and released by their church leadership to begin their ministry, and the Bridge Christian Center was birthed. The Bridge held its first service at the Hampton Inn Hotel in Jacksonville, Alabama. During this time, the church reached out to the community, providing back-to-school supplies for children, winter coats, groceries, and sometimes turkeys for the community. The Bridge Christian Center stayed in the Hampton Inn Hotel for five years.
By God's grace, the Bridge Christian Center moved to its first turnkey facility in Alexandria, Alabama. After three years of growth and Kingdom Expansion, God’s grace allowed the Bridge Christian to
continue to develop and grow as a ministry under the leadership of Pastor Fred and Rochelle and the faithful members. The Bridge Christian Center purchased its first facility at 1300 Parkwood Drive, Anniston, Al. This multi-purpose facility is a testament to God's grace, favor, and faithfulness.
Not only did the Bridge Christian experience growth and advancement, but in 2017, Pastor Smith was invited by the board of presbyters to join the board of presbyters of the International Kingdom Association of Churches and Ministries. This association was started under the leadership of the Late Dr. Myles Munroe. Pastor Smith is a frequent speaker and presenter at IAKCM international gatherings, bringing together churches worldwide.
The Bridge continues growing and fulfilling the mandate of discipling nations (people groups) and advancing the kingdom. The mission of the Bridge Christian Center is to Seek the Kingdom of God: Daily aligning our lives to God’s way of doing things. Articulate the Kingdom of God: By witnessing the loss of our community and families of what Jesus has done in our lives. By teaching the principles and keys of the kingdom, by the proclamation of the gospel of the kingdom. Demonstrate the Kingdom of God: By loving, caring, and sharing with others. By signs and wonders following those who believe. We can be kingdom ambassadors wherever we go and let the light of Christ shine through us whenever we can.
Pastor Fred and Rochelle are grateful for the support and love of the members of the Bridge Christian Center as together we seek the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.
